Some of the most iconic game reserves

East Africa boasts some of the most iconic game reserves in Africa, the Masai Mara & Serengeti being perhaps the most renowned. In Tanzania the crater floor of Ngorongoro National Park is teeming with wildebeest, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah and even the elusive white rhino. Whilst the Selous Game Reserve in the south of the country is larger than Switzerland.

The human populations are equally as fascinating with over 120 ethnic groups in Tanzania. The tall, proud and striking red-clad Masai, who still lead a semi-nomadic lifestyle of cattle-herding, are found in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.

The coastline, the Swahili Coast, was a favoured stop on ancient trading routes between the Indian sub-continent and the Middle-East, and blends African, Asian & Arabic cultures. Today it offers an exotic beach extension to your safari whether it is on the mainland coast or the fascinating islands of Lamu (Kenya) or Zanzibar (Tanzania). Traditional dhows still ply these waters.
