Experience Reunion …
There is much more to this beautiful island than simply the imagined beaches of an Indian Ocean Island. There is its intriguing status as an overseas department of France to start with. The mountains of the interior are of volcanic origin, up to 3 000 metres high and a major attraction for hiking enthusiasts. The three diverse Cirques of Mafate, Salazie and Cilaos offer breathtaking scenery, and the active volcano of Piton-de-la-Fournaise is a "must see" for all visitors. Other highlights include the people and the unique fusion of Creole and French culture.
There are two long distance hiking trails on the islands, more than 1,000 marked kilometers with breath-taking panoramas: Reunion has a well-deserved reputation as a paradise for hikers! Its countryside, its contours and its flora offer a unique variety. A short family stroll or an full-on trek with stops in shelters
There is something for every walker!- Climb the trees, swing at the end of a rope, cross bridges made of creepers - there’s no perfect age for playing at Indiana Jones… and in complete safety. The adventure trails are also a great way to discover the superb Reunion forest.
There are nearly 1,500 km of marked bike trails on Reunion. Slopes to dream about and about a dozen locations where you can rent a bike or go on accompanied rides. It seems like Reunion was made for off-road riding. From the volcanic slopes to the coastal trails, enjoy the island free-wheeling !
A mountainous territory, Reunion offers climbers about 20 climbing sites with a combined total of more than 6,000 metres. Many training slopes await beginners and for the more experienced climbers great experiences guaranteed along more than 300 metres of cliff face.
Helicopters, ultra-light planes, paragliding, hand gliding, free flights and parachuting – Reunion is the country of the aviation pioneer Roland Garros so what could be more natural than to travel by air?
