Champagne Luxury Rail Travel

Our Property Recommendations

Robert Louis Stevenson famously said “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move”, and this can never be truer than when travelling on a luxury train. Of course, you can go somewhere too and you can go in style !

Experience Luxury Rail Travel ….

  • Crisp white table linen, silver cutlery, fine china and crystal glasses all evoke a bygone age. Dining on the move is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and we’re not talking airline meals here. Fine dining complemented by fine wines are what’s on offer on Rovos Rail and The Blue Train.
  • In 2008 Rovos Rail are planning to recreate one of Africa’s great journeys and the lifelong dream of Cecil John Rhodes, Cape Town to Cairo, or vice versa. This 27-day or 34-day journey in style and comfort, by rail and air, will carry an exclusive band of travellers through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, the Sudan and Egypt. A cliché maybe, but surely the journey of a lifetime.
  • All of the suites and compartments on The Blue Train and Rovos Rail have private ensuite bathroom facilities, many of them have permanent beds and easy chairs and all of them have a touch of class.
  • If you’re feeling flush (or flash) why not charter one of the trains for a special occasion or corporate event.
  • The Desert Express in Namibia can probably not be described as luxury but it is nevertheless a great experience and considerably cheaper than its more illustrious South African counterparts. It’s worth considering if you’re a fan of rail travel.

If God had really intended men to fly, he'd make it easier to get to the airport

what better excuse than to let the train take the strain !
