Victoria Falls, Zambia Combine Victoria Falls & Chobe National Park

If visiting Victoria Falls you can easily include a stay in nearby Chobe National Park for a short (or long) safari.

Described by the local tribesman as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ - ‘the Smoke that Thunders’, in reference to the colossal columns of spray, the Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight and one of the undoubted natural wonders of the world. Over a width of nearly 2 km, almost 550 million cubic meters of water per minute cascade over the edge, at the height of the flood season, into the gorge 100 metres below. On the opposite cliff, facing the falls, you can take a walk through the ‘rain forest’ that results from the perpetual spray, with many amazing viewing spots - but don’t carry anything that you don’t want to get wet !

The Victoria Falls area is also rapidly becoming known as one of the ‘Adventure Centres’ of Southern Africa with various adrenaline sports, breathtaking scenery and many other leisure options for outdoor lovers. Hotels range from comfortable 3-star properties to exclusive riverside lodges.

Home to 45 000 Elephants

Home to an estimated 45 000 Elephants, Chobe National Park is one of the best places in Africa to see these magnificent creatues in their natural habitat, and in large numbers. In the Savute Swamp region of the park dry season game viewing concentrates on Savute’s resident bull elephants, lion and much more whilst the summer rains bring migrating Zebra and wildebeest, and swell Savute’s already prolific bird-life.

Daily flights from Johannesburg to Livingtsone and many other regional destinations mean that an add-on to see Victoria Falls has never been easier. You could also combine Victoria Falls with a visit to the Okavango Delta in Botswana; Botswana can be easily twinned with South Africa or Namibia with direct flights onward to Cape Town, Johannesburg & Windhoek.
