Okonjima, Namibia Home to the AfriCat Foundation

Okonjima, in the Omboroko Mountains in the Waterberg Plateau, is home to The AfriCat Foundation. This is a non-profit organisation, committed to long-term conservation of Namibia's large carnivores, especially cheetahs and leopards. A visit to Okonjima will give you an opportunity to witness some of AfriCat's work, and is a very worthwhile experience.

The lodges

It will also give you the opportunity to stay at one of their two camps, Main Camp which is the original family homestead and Bush Camp, their luxury lodge. The Bush Suite is a private suite designed by an African Bush Cottage. They also have a luxury private villa, ideal for families or large groups, complete with its own chef, host and game-viewing vehicle. Okonjima's exclusive camp site, Omboroko is a self catering facility. 

Apart from the attraction of the AfriCat Welfare Project, other activities at the lodge include game drives; bush walks and guided Bushman trails. Okonjima is conveniently located between Windhoek and Etosha National Park.
